Connect or disconnect Hubdoc and QuickBooks Online
Overview
- Connect an existing Hubdoc organisation to a QuickBooks Online organisation.
- If you’re an accountant or bookkeeper, connect your Hubdoc partner organisation to your practice’s QuickBooks organisation.
- Disconnect Hubdoc and QuickBooks if you've connected the wrong organisation.
About the Hubdoc and QuickBooks Online connection
Connect your organisations to send documents from Hubdoc and automatically create transactions in QuickBooks Online. You can only connect one Hubdoc organisation to one QuickBooks organisation.
To see which QuickBooks organisation is connected, on your Hubdoc organisation’s dashboard, click the settings icon, then select the Integration tab. The name of the connected QuickBooks organisation will show next to the QuickBooks integration in the Connected to field.
When you first connect the organisations, Hubdoc imports all suppliers, chart of accounts and payment accounts that are in your QuickBooks organisation. If your organisation is in Canada, Hubdoc also imports the tax rates you’ve set up in QuickBooks.
As you upload documents, Hubdoc automatically extracts key data from them. When you publish the documents to QuickBooks, Hubdoc uses the suppliers, account codes and tax rates from your QuickBooks organisation to create a transaction.
Set up the connection
Disconnect existing Hubdoc connections
If your Hubdoc organisation is already connected to an accounting software provider or another QuickBooks organisation, you need to disconnect that connection before you connect to QuickBooks. To do this:
- Log in to the Hubdoc organisation you want to connect to QuickBooks.
- On the dashboard, click the settings icon, then select the Integrations tab.
- Clear the Publish tax data checkbox next to the connection you want to cancel, then click Disconnect.
You can now connect your organisation to QuickBooks.
Connect a Hubdoc organisation to QuickBooks Online
If you’re a small business owner, connect your Hubdoc organisation to your QuickBooks Online organisation.
If you’re an accountant or bookkeeper, you can connect your client’s Hubdoc organisation to their QuickBooks organisation, or your Hubdoc partner organisation to your practice’s QuickBooks organisation.
To connect a Hubdoc organisation to QuickBooks:
- Log in to the Hubdoc organisation you want to connect to QuickBooks.
- On the dashboard, click the settings icon, then select the Integrations tab.
- Next to the QuickBooks logo, click Connect. It might take a few minutes to establish the connection.
- Enter your QuickBooks login details, then click Sign In.
- If you’re an accountant or bookkeeper connecting your client’s organisation, select your firm, then select your client’s QuickBooks organisation.
- Click Connect to authorise Hubdoc to access your QuickBooks organisation.
Your Hubdoc organisation is now connected to QuickBooks Online.
Disconnect Hubdoc and QuickBooks Online
You might need to disconnect the connection between your Hubdoc and QuickBooks organisations if:
- Supplier lists, tax rates or account codes aren’t populating
- Documents aren’t publishing as expected and you’re not receiving an error message
- The organisations should no longer be connected or you connected the wrong one
To disconnect the connection between Hubdoc and QuickBooks:
- On the Hubdoc dashboard, click the settings icon.
- Select the Integrations tab.
- If your organisation is in Canada, clear the Publish tax data checkbox next to the QuickBooks integration.
- Next to the QuickBooks integration, click Disconnect.
