Fix QuickBooks Online publishing errors in Hubdoc

Overview

  • Resolve error messages received in Hubdoc when publishing documents to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The account period has closed

The error message The account period has closed indicates that you’ve closed this accounting period and no changes can be made.

For example if you close accounting to 31 Dec 2016, no imports with a date before this are possible.

Required Parameter Line. Amount Is Missing In The Request

The error message Required Parameter Line. Amount Is Missing In The Request shows if the amount is missing from the document.

To resolve this, you’ll need to add the amount or wait for Hubdoc to extract the total amount before publishing.

Categories Cannot Be Used In Transactions

The error message Categories Cannot Be Used In Transactions indicates that a category is entered as a line item for the transaction.

To resolve this, you’ll need to select a product or service for the line item, rather than a category.

Property Name: Unexpected end-of-input: expected close marker for Object

The error message Property Name: Unexpected end-of-input: expected close marker for Object (start marker specified is unsupported or invalid) shows if a special character unrecognised by QBO is entered in the Description field.

To resolve this, you’ll need to remove the special characters or text from the Description field. You can enter the information to the description in QBO after you publish the document.

You must specify a transaction amount that is 0 or greater

The error message You must specify a transaction amount that is 0 or greater shows if the transaction amount is a negative value.

To resolve this, you’ll need to adjust the amount to 0 or a positive value.

Account cannot be negative

The error message Account cannot be negative shows if the transaction amount is a negative value.

To resolve this, you’ll need to adjust the amount to 0 or a positive value.

String length specified does not match the supported length

The error message String length specified does not match the supported length shows if the text entered for a field exceeds QuickBooks Online’s character limits (QuickBooks website).

To resolve this, you’ll need to edit the field text so it meets QBO’s accepted character count.

This feature is not included in your QuickBooks Online EasyStart subscription

The error message We're sorry. This feature is not included in your QuickBooks Online EasyStart subscription shows if there’s a limitation due to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) pricing plan.

If your QBO organisation is on an EasyStart, Simple Start or Essentials plan, it’s not possible to use the Customer, Billable, Tracking Class and Location fields. If your QBO organisation is on an EasyStart or Simple Start plan, it’s not possible to publish a document as a bill.
