User permission errors in Hubdoc
Overview
- Understand an error message you’re getting when adding or changing user permissions.
This user’s permissions cannot be changed
This error appears if you’re attempting to change the permissions for a user who either:
- Uses a Hubdoc partner organisation and has the accountant/bookkeeper user role
- Pays for their own or other Hubdoc organisations
- Has documents or integrations set up in their own Hubdoc organisation
To change the user's permissions, you can remove them from the organisation, then add them back with the appropriate permissions. Before you add the user again, they need to delete their user account.
This user can only be added as an Accountant/Bookkeeper
This error appears if you’re attempting to change the permissions for a user to an upload only or standard user role, and they either:
- Use a Hubdoc partner organisation and have the accountant/bookkeeper user role
- Pay for their own or other Hubdoc organisations
- Have documents or integrations set up in their own Hubdoc organisation
It’s not possible to change the role of a user who meets any of these criteria to upload only or standard.
This user cannot be added to a subscription
The error message This user already exists and is of a type that cannot be added to a subscription appears if you’re attempting to create a client organisation using the email address of an existing upload only or standard user.
Existing users can't be added as clients if they already have access to an organisation with the upload only or standard user role.
This user cannot be added to your practice
This error message This user already exists and is of a type that cannot be added to your practice appears if you’re attempting to add a staff member to your practice using the email address of an existing upload only or standard user.
Existing users can’t be added as staff members to your practice organisation if they already have access to an organisation with the upload only or standard user role.
You cannot add yourself as a collaborator
This error appears if you attempt to add a user using the email address used to create the organisation.
The email address used to create the Hubdoc organisation is automatically added as a user. However, the email doesn't show on the list of users in the Users tab.
